NZDF ready to assist West Coast communities
The New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF) has arrived in the West Coast to prepare to assist communities who may be affected by forecasted heavy rain.

Four trucks and one support vehicle, with 10 personnel, from the New Zealand Army’s 3rd Combat Service Support Battalion (3CSSB) arrived in Greymouth yesterday after departing Burnham Military Camp in the morning.
A Royal New Zealand Air Force NH90 helicopter also flew to Hokitika on Wednesday. The crew is prepared to assist with evacuations should that be required.
A liaison team was embedded with the Emergency Co-ordination Centre in Greymouth on Monday. The team is responsible for co-ordinating NZDF support with civilian authorities.
Other capabilities have been placed on standby to deploy to the West Coast and will be sent as they are requested.
