Upper Hutt

With 38,500 people and a land area of approximate 54 thousand hectares, Upper Hutt is one of the largest city councils by area in New Zealand.  The city is recognised as a capital gateway to the outdoors.

Nestled by the Hutt River and set amongst bush-clad hills, its unique location provides easy access to quiet native forests, riverside walks, hunting, fishing, tramping and mountain biking.

The city is home to many parks, recreation areas, Lord of the Rings film locations, the internationally-recognised Royal Wellington Golf Club at Heretaunga and the Wellington Racing Club at Trentham.

Upper Hutt has many excellent schools and Wellington's Victoria University and the region's many other tertiary institutions are within easy commuting distance to Upper Hutt.
