No 60 Advanced Command and Staff Course (Joint), ACSC(J) 60, commenced at the NZDF Command and Staff College located in Trentham Military Camp, Upper Hutt, on Monday, 25 March 2019.
Defence International Learning Centre Orientation Course
The New Zealand Orientation Course at the Defence International Learning Centre for International course members commences approximately one month before the beginning of the Advanced Command and Staff Course (Joint), ACSC(J). Attendance at this course is a pre-requisite for the ACSC(J).
The staff of the Defence International Learning Centre are highly skilled language teachers who will prepare course members for study with the New Zealand Defence Force and expose them to the New Zealand culture and customs.
Different working hours, customs and the New Zealand or 'Kiwi' accent may take some getting used to, as well as the different climate and foods, and Defence International Learning Centre staff are here to support the course members as they adjust to living in New Zealand. It is hoped that international course members will take the opportunity to learn not just from the staff but also from each other.
International course members will be accommodated in the Command and Staff College Rabaul Barracks while attending the Defence International Learning Centre Orientation Course and will therefore have the opportunity to meet the staff at the Command and Staff College.
Joining Instructions for your course will have been sent to you. Please read them carefully.
All international course members are to hold a passport endorsed with a multiple entry “Military Exemption Visa” valid for six months after the completion of the course.
International course members are required to bring their immunisation and Service medical records. Specifically, you are required to be up to date with the following vaccinations:
- Hepatitis A and B
- Measles, Mumps and Rubella
- Meningococcal Meningitis
All Course documentation will be completed upon your arrival in New Zealand. Course members of the ACSC(J) will be enrolled with the College's university provider. Enrolment forms will be completed upon your arrival in New Zealand.
