Iraq

The NZDF contribution to UNAMI closed in October 2013. One NZDF Officer provided liaison between the United Nations Assistance Mission Iraq (UNAMI) and the Multinational Force and Iraqi Security Forces.

Solomon Islands: 2003 - 2013

Timor Leste: 1992 - 2012

The NZ Defence Force supported various stability and security operations in Timor-Leste from 1999 until December 2012. The New Zealand Defence Force still provides assistance to Timor-Leste through the Mutual Assistance Programme (MAP).

Gulf of Aden: 2011

In 2011 the NZ Defence Force had three personnel located in the Gulf of Aden under Combined Task Force (CTF) 151.

Arabian Gulf: 2002 - 2004, 2008

HMNZS TE MANA in the Persian Gulf, EX Goalkeeper 3 ships in Company. [WN-08-0093-02] The Royal New Zealand Navy deployed its frigates HMNZS TE MANA and HMNZS TE KAHA to the Middle East in 2002, 2003, 2004 and again in 2008, to assist with maritime security and support operations.

Kosovo: 1999 - 2008

The United Nations Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK) employed one New Zealand Defence Force officer on the staff of UNMIK HQ in Pristina, as a Military Liaison Officer (MLO) from 1999 until 30 September 2008.

Bosnia-Herzegovina: 1992 - 2007

New Zealand's 15-year long commitment to Bosnia-Herzegovina began in 1992, with the first deployment of Kiwi combat troops since the Vietnam War.

Tonga: 2003 - 2004, 2006

A 72-strong contingent of NZDF personnel were deployed to Tonga from 18 November - 2 December 2006, to assist the Tongan Government after riots broke out.
