Wairarapa locals will be toe-tapping to a repertoire of well-known tunes when the Royal New Zealand Air Force Band comes to town later this month.
The band will play one show at the Carterton Events Centre on Thursday, 27 February, starting at 7pm.
The Wairarapa show is part of the band’s Air Force on Tour concert series, which also includes New Plymouth and Whanganui.
This is Director of Music Flight Lieutenant David Gallaher’s second tour with the band and he says concertgoers will be treated to a variety of music, from Drax Project to Dizzy Gillespie, Puccini and John Williams.
“There will be solos from Flight Sergeant Murray Mansfield, special guest Bryony Williams, and the band’s Drumline will be sure to impress,” Flight Lieutenant Gallaher said.
“I’m looking forward to performing and showcasing the colossal talent we have in the band.”
The Air Force on Tour series are the band’s first big performances since playing in front of hundreds of thousands of people at the Nan Chang International Military Tattoo in China in November 2019.
The 65-member band is made up of New Zealand Defence Force Reservists, many of whom are active in Wellington’s music scene, performing with an array of
ensembles and artists.
