United States Chief of Naval Operations to Visit New Zealand

United States Chief of Naval Operations Admiral Jonathan W. Greenert will visit Wellington and Auckland on 12 and 13 February as part of a regional trip.   
During his visit Admiral Greenert will be hosted by his New Zealand counterpart, Chief of Navy, Rear Admiral Jack Steer. While in New Zealand Admiral Greenert will discuss a range of matters including coordinated responses to international humanitarian assistance and disaster relief events.
New Zealand and the United States work collaboratively in a number of areas including on exercises such as RIMPAC, the world’s largest multilateral naval exercise with 22 other nations; the international counter-piracy taskforce; and multinational humanitarian assistance activities such as Pacific Partnership.
“I know our people have learnt a lot working with the United States Military and Admiral Greenert’s visit builds further on our excellent working relationship,” Rear Admiral Steer said.
While in New Zealand Admiral Greenert will visit Devonport Naval Base, where he will be given a tour of the New Zealand Navy’s fleet operations and training facilities. 
Admiral Greenert will be arriving into Auckland today.
