The NZ Army Band are performing to sell out crowds as they march out, Kiwi style, at the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo.

Edinburgh Castle is once again host to the most popular Tattoo in the world, and the flair of the Kiwis is proving once more to be one of the highlight acts.

"For a small band on the other side of the world, this event is always a massive thrill for us to play,"  says Captain Graham Hickman, Director of Music for the NZ Army Band. "We're proud of our country, and proud of our act. It's uniquely Kiwi - and it always goes down pretty well," he says.

The band have already paraded through the streets of Glasgow in a lead up to the Tattoo and have been coined the “well established favourites” by local media.

The theme for the Tattoo this year is ‘The Year of Natural Scotland’ and the NZ Army Band were chosen to open and celebrate the autumn season paying tribute with a traditional Maori haka and performance.

The Edinburgh News said of the performance, “Even as the temperatures cooled a few degrees and the programme returned to the more traditional music of the New Zealand Army Band, many a modern and unexpected twist was there to ensure there were no winter blues”.

The UK Daily Record noted this of the same performance, “As well as a fearsome display of the Haka, the New Zealand Army Band had the audience in stitches with their version of the hit song Gangnam Style by Psy.”

The Tattoo which runs from 2-24 August highlights talents and thousands of performers from all over the world including Europe, the Far East as well as Central and South America.
