Their Royal Highnesses, The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall, disembark an RNZAF B757 in Auckland last night.
Their Royal Highnesses, The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall, arrived on a Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF) Boeing 757 at the RNZAF Base Auckland last night. On arrival the Prince inspected a RNZAF Royal Guard of Honour.
The Prince and Duchess are visiting New Zealand to mark the Diamond Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. During their six day visit the Prince and Duchess will meet with many New Zealanders including veterans and serving military personnel.
The Prince of Wales has a strong association with the military, embarking on a naval career following in the foot-steps of his father, grandfather and both his great-grandfathers. Both the Prince’s sons are helicopter pilots, in the Royal Air Force and British Army respectively. The Prince also qualified as a pilot with the Royal Air Force.
The visit by the Prince of Wales is especially significant for the RNZAF as the Prince is the Air Commodore-in-Chief of the RNZAF and this is the RNZAF’s 75th anniversary year.
