Over 700 Naval personnel will be on parade in Auckland this Friday, and for the first time His Worship the Mayor of Auckland City, Len Brown will review the impressive sight.
The Royal New Zealand Navy's 'Divisions' is a long-standing tradition, providing an opportunity for Navy to be reviewed in a formal setting. Ngataringa Bay Sports Field in Devonport will be transformed by the display of military ceremony, which starts at 1000 Friday 20 January.
The ceremony will commence with the Navy Kapa Haka group welcoming His Worship the Mayor, who will then formally review the Divisions. Senior military officers, dignitaries from the local area, as well as friends, family and members of the public will all be watching on.
Befitting the occasion there will also be a flypast by the Navy’s Seasprite Helicopters and a number of awards will be presented including Sailor of the Year.
