Change of Command Parade to signify new direction for NZ Army

Media are invited to attend a change of command parade to be held at Linton Military Camp on 13 December 2011. Colonel Howard Duffy, the current Commander of the 2nd Land Force Group, will hand over command to Colonel Chris Parsons, MNZM, DSD, during a ceremonial parade involving the personnel and equipment of 2nd Land Force Group.

The 2nd Land Force Group will also be renamed 1 (NZ) Brigade as part of the Chief of Army’s plan to "Operationalise the Army" under the Army 2015 Strategic Plan. This plan will see various initiatives implemented over the next four years in order to ensure that the NZ Army can undertake a significant period of capability enhancement from 2015.

The parade will be attended by the Chief of Defence Force, the Chief of Army, and a number of well known personalities from the Manawatu region, and there will be opportunities for media to speak with selected military personnel.

Attendees will be required to register their interest and meet at the main entrance of Linton Military Camp at 1300 hrs, and are to be in possession of a photographic ID.
