Employer support recognised at Awards ceremony

8 April 2011

Awards for employers who support the service of their staff in the Reserve Forces of the New Zealand Defence Force will be presented in Wellington next Tuesday night.

The Territorial Forces Employers Support Council (TFESC) Awards are presented each year to the employers of Reserve Force personnel who have nominated their employer in recognition of the outstanding support they have received.

There are a wide range of employers nominated this year from both the public and private sectors including Otago Polytechnic, New Zealand Police (Canterbury District), WELTEC (Wellington) and Richmond Lawyers (Auckland).

The ceremony will be attended by the Minister for Defence the Hon. Dr Wayne Mapp, the Chief of Defence Force Lieutenant General Rhys Jones and TFESC Chairman Peter Townsend.

The Reserve Forces were vital in assisting with the Christchurch earthquake response. More than 200 Reserve Forces changed their civilian clothes for a uniform during February and March to support the Civil Defence recovery effort.

When: Tuesday 12 April 5.15pm.
Where: Grand Hall, Parliament.
