HMNZS CANTERBURY docked in Lyttelton

New Zealand Defence Force personnel remain committed to the earthquake response efforts in Christchurch and will stand united with New Zealand in observing today’s two minutes’ silence at 12.51pm.
The fully laden HMNZS CANTERBURY, the Royal New Zealand Navy’s Multi-role vessel, was unloaded last night after it arrived back in Lyttelton. His Worship the Mayor of Christchurch, Bob Parker, met with Defence personnel.
Non-armed security patrols along with support to community clean up and repair services continues in Lyttelton town centre. Personnel from HMNZ Ships PUKAKI, OTAGO and PEGASUS are assisting.
HMNZS RESOLUTION completed its survey of Akaroa Harbour and found little or no seabed movement in the surveyed area.
150 aircrew and support personnel remain committed to the RNZAF effort, continuing to provide flights in and out of Christchurch each day and Iroquois helicopter support to Civil Defence and other agencies.
NZ Army personnel remain committed with Singapore Army (SAF) personnel to providing the 24/7 cordon around the city and also assisting Police with patrols in the suburbs of Bexley and Waltham.
NZ Army Territorial soldiers are assisting with the clean in the Aranui suburb.
Army engineers continue to operate a water production unit in New Brighton. Lyttelton sourced water is operational and NZDF personnel continue to deliver packaged water from Burnham Military Camp. A water point will also be established and operational at Sumner today.
Army catering teams produced 1,646 breakfasts, 1,893 lunches, 2,009 dinners and 600 midnight meals in the last 24 hours.
Three Environmental Health teams continue to work with the Ministry of Health.
