“I would like to congratulate Mr McIver on his new role. His wealth of experience will be a great asset to the trusted institution that is the RSA,” Ms Collins said.
“The RSA enjoys a strong relationship with the Government. I look forward to working with Mr McIver to meet the needs of veterans, to enhance their access to services and to keep the memory of their sacrifice and service alive.”
Ms Collins paid tribute to Mr Klitscher for his “unimpeachable legacy of service to veterans.
“He has also worked tirelessly to promote the welfare of veterans and to ensure the voice of RSA members continue to be heard,” Ms Collins said.
“Mr Klitscher’s greatest achievement with the RSA will be his cementing into the national consciousness the importance of honour and remembrance.
“In recent years interest in veterans’ commemorations has continued to grow thanks in part to his efforts to make the legacy of our service men and women relevant to current and future New Zealanders.”
