Air Force helicopters on HMNZS CANTERBURY in Wellington

Two RNZAF Iroquois helicopters will be landing on the deck of HMNZS CANTERBURY at Aotea Wharf in Wellington tomorrow morning in preparation for deployment to New Caledonia on Exercise Croix Du Sud with the French armed Forces.

HMNZS CANTERBURY is expected to berth alongside Aotea Quay wharf at 8am and the first Iroquois is expected at 10:10am with the second Iroquois at 10:30am.

Interested media are invited to take photos of the helicopters landing aboard.  Media may be invited aboard the CANTERBURY however this will be confirmed in the morning.  



Exercise CROIX DU SUD 2010 is a French Army New Caledonia (FANC) sponsored Joint and combined Field Training Exercise conducted biennially in New Caledonia between the armed forces of New Caledonia, New Zealand, Australia, Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu and Tonga.

The Exercise will be conducted over 8 - 26 April 2010.

NZDF participation includes HMNZS CANTERBURY, an Infantry Platoon from 3 Land Force Group in Burnham and a No 3 Squadron Air Force Detachment of two Iroquois helicopters and over 210 NZDF personnel.
