RNZAF welcome home ceremony C-130 Hercules aircraft life extension programme

Media are invited to attend the Welcoming Ceremony for the first C-130 Hercules which has been upgraded as part of the C-130 Life Extension Programme (LEP).  


Where: Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF) Base Auckland, Brighams Creek Road, Auckland
When: Thursday 21 October 2010
Video Footage: A short dvd of video footage will be provided to those media who require it. It includes footage of the C-130 LEP in flight on its way home from the USA in addition to footage of the C-130 LEP arrival back to NZ at Whenuapai last Sunday.

Programme Guide:
1200 - 1300hrs: Auckland Media access. Visits of C-130 LEP Simulator, C-130 LEP aircraft and C-130H (Legacy) aircraft. Interviews with Air Force crews etc.

1315hrs: Boeing 757 arrives at Base Auckland with Minister of Defence and Chief of Defence Force (CDF).

1330hrs: Minister of Defence, CDF visit C-130 Simulator. Photo opportunity.
Speeches by Minister of Defence and CDF. Opportunity for questions.
Minister and CDF visit C-130 LEP. Photo opportunity.
Afternoon Tea

1530hrs:  Ends

All media wishing to attend are to register their interest with Squadron Leader Kavae Tamariki 021 420 899 no later than 0900hrs, Thursday 21 Oct 2010. Photo ID will be required for access to Base Auckland.

An Air Force Boeing 757 will be flying from Auckland - Ohakea - Wellington - Auckland prior to the ceremony and a return journey after the ceremony. Detailed timings to be provided.

Limited seats are available for the media from Ohakea and Wellington who wish to attend. Flights are subject to change for Service reasons.

Media wishing to utilise this flight are to register their interest with Squadron Leader Kavae Tamariki on no later than 1200hrs Wednesday 20 Oct 2010.
