27 March 2009
A Royal New Zealand Air Force Iroquois helicopter will be involved in a Search and Rescue Exercise from 27 -29 March in the Mount Somers area.
The helicopter and crew from Number 3 Squadron will be working alongside Police and civilian search teams during the exercise.
Aircraft captain Flight Lieutenant Graham Burnnand said the exercise will give the different parties involved in a search and rescue the opportunity to train alongside each other.
“The exercise will be as real as possible and will include low flying around Mount Somers and the insertion of teams into the exercise search area.”
