The Library's Collections
The Library collection is strong in military subject areas such as military history, military equipment, military strategy and medallic awards. The Library also holds books that look at New Zealand strategic and defence studies. The book collection is mirrored by the serials collection which includes a range of military and international relations titles. The collection consists almost entirely of secondary or published material. It does not hold archival or photographic material.

Unidentified Aerial Sightings (UAS) files
- Most primary, or archival material is held at Archives NZ.
- Some archival material is also held by the military museums
- Service Personnel Files are not accessible from the library:
- Service Personnel files for those who served after 1921are held in Trentham at NZDF Archives
- Service Personnel files for those who served prior to 1921are held by Archives NZ.
