Overseas Commemorations

The New Zealand Defence Force, on behalf of the New Zealand Government, plans and delivers overseas military commemorations working with the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and Trade and host nations.

Planned 2019 commemorations include:

  • Anzac Day at Gallipoli, Turkey, 25 April 2019
  • The 75th anniversary of the Battles of Cassino, Italy, 16-17 May 2019

Anzac Day at Gallipoli

The commemorative sites at Gallipoli are the sovereign territory of the Turkish people and holding the annual Anzac Day commemorative services is only possible with the cooperation and generous assistance of the Government of the Republic of Turkey.

In 2019, Australia and New Zealand will conduct the iconic Dawn Service at the Anzac Commemorative Site at Gallipoli, starting at 5.30am after an overnight vigil. New Zealand will conduct its own memorial service at Chunuk Bair later in the morning on Anzac Day. The exact timing for the New Zealand service will be finalised after consultation with the Turkish authorities.

Registration

If you are planning to attend the commemoration at Gallipoli in 2019, you need to register for an attendance pass at www.overseascommemorations.ticketek.com.au.
